Mission

Preparing scientific cadres in the field of counseling and psychotherapy, including specialists or researchers, encouraging scientific studies, providing psychological services to community members, and providing psychological consultations to the governmental and private sectors, through the various study programs in the department, and the material and human capabilities provided by the department.

Objectives

• Preparing qualified psychologists to work in the applied fields of psychology in the health and education sector and relevant civil institutions such as institutions for people with special needs, civil service departments, mental health hospitals and industrial institutions, in order to perform various tasks such as diagnosing and treating mental disorders, behavioral problems and other tasks performed by the psychologist.

• Carrying out scientific and field research in various psychological fields with the aim of enriching psychological knowledge and providing appropriate solutions to mental disorders, diseases, behavioral and social problems.

• Providing specialized psychological, counseling and therapeutic consultations for students and employees in the college alike in the fields of counseling, psychotherapy, educational counseling and vocational guidance through the psychiatric clinic attached to the department.

• Preparing students of the Department of Counseling and Psychotherapy in an integrated professional, educational and psychological preparation to qualify them to achieve their ambitions and goals in scientific advancement and cognitive increase in the field of disorders, mental illnesses and behavioral problems.

• Providing students with research skills that enable them to carry out psychological studies that contribute to raising the level of professional performance in the cognitive and applied branches in various fields of the profession.

• Enable the students of the department to master the applications of the scientific method in the psychosocial field and understand the philosophy of its cognitive dimensions, in order to achieve understanding and interpretation of human behavior through solid scientific studies. Providing the students of the department with the latest psychological knowledge to improve professional performance, and make them able and qualified to join specialized graduate programs.
